Description: Live, train and play the United way! In 2009, over 1,500 children from 75 different countries took part in a Manchester United Soccer Schools residential course. The courses are based on Manchester United’s Academy programme but are delivered in a way that young players of all abilities can ‘Learn to Play the United Way’. Manchester United Soccer Schools operates its residential courses in the private Denstone College, Staffordshire, providing a safe and secure environment, with accommodation, meals and other leisure activities all on one site. These fantastic courses will give each player a fascinating insight into how Manchester United prepare their youngsters enabling them to reach their optimum level of performance. Types of Course: Manchester United Soccer Schools recognises the specific needs of each player and offer the following category of residential courses: Junior: 8-11 years This focuses on teaching the fundamental techniques of the game and showing players how to master these skills. Tailor-made for junior players with a fun and friendly atmosphere, players live and breathe the game for a week. Girls: 8-18 years Girls from all over the world can enjoy taking their soccer development to a new level. The course focuses on the technical, tactical, physical, mental and social elements of the game and follows the fundamental elements of Manchester United coaching philosophy. This course will help girls striving to reach their peak performance. Senior: 12-16 years An intensive course designed to take the players to the next level by improving their technique but also developing their understanding of team shape, defensive responsibilities and attacking principles using the Manchester United philosophy. Goalkeepers: 8-18 years The goalkeeper courses focus on the technical, tactical, physical, mental and social elements of the game, developing players as individuals within 1v1 situations, as well as gaining an understanding of working as a team both in defensive and attacking situations. The sessions look at positional sense, communication, handling, footwork, distribution, crosses, organisational skills, kicking, agility and flexibility. Youth: 17-18 years An advanced, intensive course gives older players a valuable insight into the opportunities that arise by staying in the game. As well as experiencing how Manchester United prepare their youth players for that next step, our staff help the players create a vision of how they can progress within the game and the opportunities in football such as coaching, sports science and nutrition. |
