DiscoveryWorks Community Service, in collaboration with Summer Discovery, invites you to experience the best of all worlds by helping others, living in a university residence hall with high school students from all over the USA and around the world, while having the most amazing summer of your life. All DiscoveryWorks students will be under the care and supervision of the Summer Discovery Staff and participate in most Summer Discovery activities and excursions.
Make a difference in California! Volunteer at UCLA, and around suburban Los Angeles and earn 40-45 hours of community service. Enjoy priceless opportunities working with the Venice Boys and Girls Club mentoring underprivileged kids, preserving marine life at the UCLA Ocean Discovery Center, restore the beautiful coastline with “Heal The Bay,” create a carnival for a pediatric AIDS organization, help serve food at the Penny Lane Family Center, and work with other organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Senior Smiles, the St. Joseph Center. Westwood VA Hospital, and the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center. In addition, enjoy informative guest speakers from Habitat for Humanity, Project Angel Food, Americorps and the American Red Cross. All of these factors add up to a rewarding and worthwhile summer.
